Foods to consume more of for Healthy, Glowing Skin

Studies show that diets filled with vegetables, fruits, nuts, and beans may be beneficial for your skin and can improve hydration, elasticity, and the appearance of wrinkles.

Vegetables and fruits contain a myriad of compounds that fight the signs of skin aging. However, it’s their high antioxidant and anti-inflammatory content that’s arguably the most influential for keeping skin looking and feeling young.

Vitamin C - Rich Fruits and Vegetables - Eating more of citrus fruits (oranges, grapefruit, lemon, lime etc.), kiwi, cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, etc.), strawberries, peppers, plus many others can help stimulate the production of collagen, which is a main structural component for our skin. Vitamin C is a great antioxidant that helps prevent environmental stress and damage to the skin, such as photoaging from UV rays.

Fruits and vegetables rich in polyphenols are another great recommendation, as they act as antioxidants in the body. These help protect skin health by promoting defense and protection from free radicals and oxidative stress, while also helping maintain the integrity of our skin. This can also aid in reducing inflammation in the body as cellular stress levels decrease.

Omega 3 Fatty Acids are amazing for skin health! Studies suggest that eating nuts and seeds regularly may help reduce hyperpigmentation and wrinkles. Nut and seeds like Flax, Chia, Walnuts, and Almonds are all excellent options, and they may also help lower risk of photoaging. 

With nuts and seeds, fish is an amazing source of Omega 3s! Oily fish like salmon, trout, mackerel, tuna, and sardines are all rich in healthy omegas. These awesome fats act as antioxidants and anti-inflammatories!

One of the most important things to make sure we are getting enough of every day is water. 

Drinking adequate amounts of water is beneficial for your overall health, but it does wonders for the skin! Skin cells are made up of up to 64% water, so water intake has a significant impact on your skin health. It can help keep your skin hydrated, which can aid in wrinkle prevention! 

Get extra water intake from fruits and veggies! Watermelon, honeydew, strawberries, pineapple, oranges, peaches, peppers, celery, cucumber, lettuce, squash and zucchini are great sources for hydration.
