SCS - What is the difference in Vitamin K1 and K2?
Different forms of vitamins really depends on where they are coming from. Vitamin K1 is found in plant foods like spinach, kale, and other leafy greens. Vitamin K2 is found in animal products and fermented products/foods, and similar to fermented foods, it can also be found in some of your gut bacteria!
Vitamin K1 has shown in studies to have less absorption than K2. Vitamin K2 absorbed better in the system and stays in the system longer than K1. This longer circulation time allows your muscles and tissues to use it more optimally than it would with K1. These differences cause better effects in favor of Vitamin K2. It benefits the body more because of its better absorption rate and its longer lasting time in the body.
Vitamin K as a whole is an awesome vitamin that activates proteins that are needed for the production of healthy bone growth and development, which helps manage current bone health! It is also known for its blood clotting properties. Both forms share these benefits!
