SCS - Definitions and Unit Measurements

This Page is dedicated to terminology that may be found useful, along with unit measurement differences.

Micrograms - a unit/amount that equals one millionth of a gram, also seen as "mcg". 1 mcg= 0.001 mg

IU- international unit/amount for a substance. This unit of measurement varies per vitamin/herb. Always appears as IU.

Milligrams- a unit of measurement equal to a thousandth of a gram, also seen as "mg". 1 mg = 1000 mcg

UL- short for Upper Limit, meaning the maximum amount of vitamin/herb as recommended by the FDA.

Bioavailable- the ability of the body to use and absorb active supplement ingredients.

Enteric- meaning related or reference to the intestines.
