SCS - Is BioShield MD safe for me to take with my medication?

BioShield MD is made from food sources, with natural ingredients, no artificial sweeteners, non-GMO, soy and gluten-free. 

It's been formulated to be safe for healthy adults over age 18. We are not aware of any potential food or supplement interactions.  

However, if you have a medical condition or a concern about a potential interaction between an ingredient or product and medication you are taking we recommend you always consult with your personal physician so they can help you decide if the product is 100% safe for you.  

Note: BioShield MD contains Turmeric. Here are some possible interactions between turmeric and certain medications. If you are taking medications for any of these conditions, please consult with your doctor before you start taking the product.

Blood-thinning drugs – Turmeric is able to strengthen the effect of blood-thinning medications and increase the risk of bleeding. Some of these include:

  • Clopidogrel (Plavix)
  • Aspirin
  • Warfarin (Coumadin)

Medications to reduce stomach acid – Turmeric may affect the action of certain drugs used to reduce stomach acid and increase the amount of stomach acid. Some of these drugs include:

  • Famotidine (Pepcid)
  • Cimetidine (Tagamet)
  • Esomeprazole (Nexium)
  • Ranitidine (Zantac)
  • Lansoprazole (Prevacid)
  • Omeprazole (Prilosec)

Medications for diabetes – Turmeric can strengthen the effect of medications for diabetes and lower blood glucose levels and result in hypoglycaemia.
